Why we built withinLabs.

Clinicians see 20 to 40 clients a week. They run their practices on software built for primary care and adapted — badly — for behavioral health. Notes take 45 minutes after a 50-minute session. Billing gets outsourced because it is too complicated to manage alongside a full caseload. Insurance verification is a phone call.

withinLabs was founded in Dallas, Texas to fix that. We started with a single question: what would an EHR look like if it were built from scratch for a solo or small-group private practice, using the AI tools available today?

The answer is withinEHR — charting with ambient AI, a phone agent that handles intake without a front desk, a billing engine that scrubs claims before they leave the system, and every other workflow a practice runs, in one product. We did not try to make an existing EHR smarter. We built the infrastructure from the ground up.

We are a small company. We move quickly and we care about accuracy. Every claim the Revenue Engine flags gets a human review before an appeal is filed. Every note the AI Scribe drafts waits for the clinician to read and sign it. We believe the right constraint for AI in healthcare is a human who stays accountable — and we build that constraint into the product, not as a disclaimer, but as a design principle.
